Bucolic and Heritage Family Experience

Dive into a unique sensory experience where music and images respond with poetry at the heart of the thousand-year-old site of Prieuré Saint-Ayoul. The baroque ensemble LABADAUDE offers a musical journey around the nightingale, an emblematic figure of the Middle Ages. As a symbol of courtesy, idealized love, and troubadour-inspired songs, the bird becomes the guiding thread of a program featuring instrumental and vocal pieces from the medieval and baroque repertoire. Its trills and ornaments find a subtle echo in the musical arabesques, evoking gardens, forests, and gallant scenes. Alongside the music, an immersive projection of photographs by Franck Jaillard creates a living landscape: woodland birds, twilight clearings, delicate details of the wild world. The images interact with ancient timbres—voices, harpsichord, theorbo, guitar, harp, flute, violone.

The immersive concert at Prieuré Saint-Ayoul offers a journey into the aesthetics of courtly love. Inspired by the nightingale theme, a recurring figure in love poetry, the concert explores the various states of the loving soul: waiting, suffering, lament, resignation. The selected works showcase the expressive richness of the repertoire, alternating between serious airs, lighter character pieces, and instrumental works, in a spirit reminiscent of the private concerts of the 17th century. Through the dialogue between a nightingale and a despairing lover, Labadaude leads the audience on a lyrical adventure exploring the depths and codes of one of the privileged literary circles of 17th-century France.
