Star Wars Officially Sets Major Event This Weekend

Fortnite and the world of Star Wars have been close buds for years now. The colorful chaos of Fortnite lends itself very nicely to all manner of a galaxy far, far away, and this weekend is the latest in the ongoing Star Wars-related events in the game, and it’s neatly tied in to the ongoing theatrical run of The Mandalorian and Grogu.

Fortnite is hosting a new Star Wars event inside its new Droid Tycoon mode this weekend. Last week saw players team up to intercept stolen Beskar and return it to the rightful Mandalorians. The Droid Tycoon: Mandalorian Event gave squads a limited window to jump inexplore the outpost, track down crates, and smash them open to recover the Beskar inside. This weekend, it’s time to put that Beskar to good use, because we’ll be getting new Beskar variants of the droids we’ve already got.

Disciplined, compassionate, and deeply attuned to the living Force, you have walked the path long enough to understand its demands — and accept them. You lead not through authority alone, but through example. You have felt the pull of the dark side and chosen otherwise, every time. That is not certainty. That is courage.

You are earnest, powerful, and brimming with potential — and you know it, which is both your greatest asset and your most dangerous flaw. You act before you think, trust your gut over your training, and sometimes confuse impatience for bravery. The Masters see something in you, though. The question isn’t whether you have what it takes — it’s whether you’ll be patient enough to find out.

You are not simply dangerous — you are certain, and that is worse. You have decided what the galaxy needs, and you have decided you are the one to deliver it. Your power is genuine and formidable, earned through sacrifice that would have broken lesser beings. But examine your victories carefully. Every Sith believed their cause was righteous. The dark side’s cruelest trick is that it agrees with you.

You were forged in fire and reshaped by those who found you at your lowest. You serve, because service gave you structure when you had none. Your allegiance is not to an ideology — it is to survival and to the master who gave you purpose. But there is something buried beneath the conditioning. The Jedi you hunt? You recognize them. Because you remember what it felt like before the choice was taken from you.

You have looked at the Jedi Code and the Sith Code and found both of them incomplete. You walk the line not out of indecision but out of conviction — you genuinely believe both extremes miss something essential. The Jedi don’t fully trust you. The Sith think you’re wasting your potential. They’re both partially right. But so are you.

What Is ‘Droid Tycoon’ About?

For those unaware, Droid Tycoon is similar to Fortnite‘s many community-made Tycoon maps. You start with a small base and a droid, and put it to work to earn galactic credits. The more you earn, the more your base expands, and the more droids you buy. Then, you can upgrade them from normal to gold, to diamond, to rainbow (currently the top tier of droids), and now, to Beskar. Each droid’s earning potential doubles with each tier it jumps. It’s a simple enough game, but it’s wonderfully addictive. The game mode is set in Tattooine — where else? — with the droids available on a conveyor belt set up by the Jawas. So yes, you can be your own Luke Skywalker and Uncle Owen and buy a droid to put to work on your homestead. Famous droids have also made cameo appearances so far, including BB-8 and IG-11 from The Mandalorian.

The event is part of Fortnite‘s much larger Star Wars push throughout May, which has brought multiple galaxy far, far away experiences into the game. Alongside Droid Tycoonthe collaboration has included Galactic Siegea 10v10 PvP mode across Star Wars planets similar to modes found in EA’s Battlefront, and Escape Vadera four-player survival experience built around, as the title suggests, trying not to get absolutely ruined by Darth Vader — it’s not easy.

The Droid Tycoon: Beskar Event runs in Fortnite on May 30 through May 31.
