KRAFTON has released PUBG: Battlegrounds update 42.1 which brings improvements to the ranking system.
Ranked Mode Season 42 will last three months, a longer duration than usual, as part of preparations for the upcoming Ranked Mode overhaul. This update brings changes to the Ranking Points (RP) system with a greater emphasis on survival, one of the key elements of Battle Royale gameplay. The final ranking now has more weight in the calculation of Ranking Points (RP), and it is possible to earn additional points by obtaining good scores in consecutive matches. Secret rooms have also been added to Ranked and Custom Matches – Esports Mode.

The Black Market 2026 is also available. As previously noted in the 2026 Roadmap, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS has removed the old two-step probability system for Loot Caches and Bounty Packages. Players can now obtain progressive weapon skins and other rewards directly from a single container. A new Workshop page, entitled Supply Bay, has also been set up. It brings together the entire process (from opening the container to viewing the results to claiming milestone rewards) into one streamlined experience. Among the progressive weapon skins that are making a return, we find alongside the new Chromas: Demon’s Touch for the ACE32, Rest in Pink for the Dragunov, Yule Sleigh for the Mini14 and Neon Dream for the AUG.
The Blue Zone system has also been updated. In Normal Match, the Blue Zone has been adjusted to create more space for late-game confrontations, while maintaining the overall length of the match. In Ranked mode, the duration of some phases has been shortened to improve the overall pace of matches, while adjustments to safe zone placement have been reduced to increase unpredictability. In addition, the damage inflicted by the Blue Zone now varies according to the time spent inside it, and no longer according to the distance from the Safety Zone.
Other new features include the introduction of interactive smoke, the new PUBG Nations Cup (PNC) Fantasy League, balance adjustments for SLR, and the “Ally Duo” mode available for a limited time in Arcade.
Additional updates include the introduction of Interactive Smoke, the new PUBG Nations Cup (PNC) Fantasy League, SLR balance adjustments, as well as the temporary Ally Duo mode in the Arcade.
