Dan Moser has been appointed as the permanent Eldon Gideon Dean of Kansas State University’s College of Agriculture, effective March 22. Moser, who previously served as the interim dean, expressed his excitement about elevating the college and expanding K-State’s reputation in agricultural education and research. The provost and executive vice president, Jesse Perez Mendez, highlighted Moser’s ability to lead the institution towards excellence considering his background as a K-State graduate. Moser emphasized the significant role K-State plays in the Kansas economy, contributing to workforce development and agricultural research results. Moser’s new role as the chief academic and administrative officer of the College of Agriculture and K-State’s Agricultural Experiment Station will involve providing leadership and strategic direction for faculty and staff to advance teaching, research, engagement, and extension efforts for Kansas and beyond. The college’s recent recognition as a top-five college for agricultural science in the U.S. will be a strong starting point for Moser to build on. Additionally, the Agriculture Innovation Initiative aims to position K-State as a hub for interdisciplinary solutions in global food security, sustainability, and emerging agricultural technologies. Moser is optimistic about working with the college’s leadership team to leverage new facilities and support agricultural innovation both locally and globally. Prior to becoming dean, Moser held various roles, including associate dean of academic programs and president of Angus Genetics, Inc. He brings a wealth of experience in the agricultural industry, having served in educational and leadership positions at various institutions. His academic background includes a doctorate in animal and dairy science and a master’s in animal science from the University of Georgia, along with a bachelor’s in animal sciences and industry from K-State.
