After that of Fontaine-Chaalis on Sunday, another crop fire occurred in Saint-Martin-le-NÅ“ud (Oise) at the beginning of the afternoon while the harvest was in full swing in the middle of a heatwave.
It was just 2 p.m. this Monday, June 22, when the alert was given. An impressive plume of smoke rose along departmental road 35, in the town of Saint-Martin-le-NÅ“udsouth of Beauvais. Quickly on the scene, a unit specializing in forest fires from the Oise firefighters had to fight to slow down the course of the fire and the flames, fanned by the wind.
The progression of the fire was stopped before it spread to neighboring plots: in total, the fire still covered 2.5 hectares of alfalfa. (a little more than at Fontaine-Chaalis on Sunday afternoon). Three lances were necessary to overcome the last hot spots and avoid any resumption.

With the rise in temperatures and the start of the harvest, vigilance remains maximum in Beauvaisis as in the rest of the department… on alert red heat wave from this Tuesday. Note that the firefighters also intervened at the beginning of the afternoon, in La Croix-Saint-Ouen, for another crop fire during which eight hectares were destroyed.
