Trever Trainageneral director of Tools For Humanity, I declared that World Network must overcome not only regulatory obstacles, but also logistical challenges to achieve large-scale distribution.

“We are working quickly on their production”

World was launched in 2023 as a decentralized identity verification project intended to distinguish between real humans and artificial bots online. To do this, they collect people’s biometric data, including their irises, via a proprietary device called Orb.

In an exclusive interview with Benzinga, Traina acknowledged that production of Orb devices is being held back by limited supply.

He said the devices contain chips made by the artificial intelligence giant Nvidia Corp. (NASDAQ: NVDA), and that they are “incredibly sophisticated†.

“There are only a limited number of these in the world, although we are working quickly to produce them,” Traina said.

He added that it took a long time for the project to penetrate the American market and that it was only just starting to develop now.

“So it’s not just a regulatory question, it’s also a logistical question,” Traina stressed. “Once we have a large number of these Orbs, we will be able to be present in more places. HAS”

Tools For Humanity, a high-tech company co-founded by Sam Altman, the CEO ofOpenAIis the main developer of the project.

The sticking point

However, this data collection has sparked intense international attention on the issue of personal data privacy. Countries including Kenya, Spain, Hong Kong and India have suspended Orb’s verification services, citing violations of local privacy laws.

World claims that biometric data is processed, encrypted, and then sent directly to the user’s phone, with all data deleted from Orb’s storage system afterward.

“This project does not steal your biometric information. In fact, he almost invented a way to let you use your biometric data without actually giving it away,” Traina said.

Do not compete with national identification systems

So what are the benefits for countries with established biometric national digital identification systems to allow their citizens to enroll in an ID program offered by a private U.S. company?

“Our goal is not to replace national identification systems, driving licenses or other things like that. We are a more fundamental tool,
deeper, since we prove with the greatest certainty that the user of our identification system is a unique human being and not a bot,” Traina said.

The price movement : To encourage users to verify that they are indeed human, the project distributes free cryptocurrencies, namely WLD.

At the time of writing, the token was trading at $0.3130, up 4.24% in the last 24 hours, according to data from Benzinga Pro. Since its peak at the start of 2024, it has lost 97% of its value.
