How can you find a Golden Llamas in Fortnite? The game has always featured llamas to some degree, they’re basically Fortnite’s mascot. A pinata that needs breaking open, which takes a little time then you get a reward of some of the best Fortnite items. Although, they’ve changed a lot over the years.
Most recently, Golden Llamas in Fortnite are tied to the new Rift Anomaly mechanic. If you want to track them down, there’s a degree of RNG. You can’t just drop at the same spot and expect to find a Llama every game.
In the current Fortnite Chapter 7, llamas work differently. They’re nothing like the first version of Llamas, or the Golden Llamas we saw back in Chapter 6. If you want to track them down this season, this is how they work:
How to Find Golden Llamas in Fortnite
Golden Llamas in Fortnite have made a return with one of the new random Rift Anomaly. Llamas in the game have always been a bit random. With their locations decided by RNG, and players just lucking out on them instead of having a strategy. With the latest Fortnite season, the Golden Llamas in Fortnite are still random. But they’re a lot easier to find.
Once they activate, you’ll get a notification in-game. This will let you know that the Llamas are spawning. At that point, they’ll be marked on your map. Look at the top of the screen for the navigation bar, you’ll see their distance from you and where to head.
This Rift Anomaly system mean they’re much more common. Once you fully train up a Llama, it’ll turn golden. it doesn’t make a huge difference to the Llama’s function in the game though.
There’s also a guaranteed normal llama on the map. This is at the Stables, but this is an old-fashioned normal Llama, it doesn’t work like the newer ones added in and isn’t random.
Llamas Are Even in Fortnite Esports
Along with being in the normal game, Llamas are in Fortnite esports right now.
Fortnite Competitive has usually featured a different loot pool from pubs. To remove overpowered items and make the game play a bit more fairly. However, in Fortnite competitive Golden Llamas are back. They’re rideable, and completely random. it’s a bit messy. Even if Golden Llamas in Fortnite is fun in pubs.
Basically, Epic has turned on Rift Anomaly for esports right now. in the future, we could see them turned back on. Especially with a major tournament like the Fortnite Major 1 Summit LAN happening. RNG like the random Rift Anomalys can be fun, but they will provide an unfair advantage to some teams in competitive. We don’t really know how it’ll effect things in a LAN, since they’re all completely random.
In most Fortnite tournaments, we see the drop spots being big deciders in performance. The better drop spots have better loot. They have better rotation. They can pull storm, give players more surge damage potential, and set a team up for a dramatically better game. In the last LAN, we saw some of the biggest Fortnite players crashing out thanks to their drop spot being badly claimed. RNG factors like these Rift Encounters are completely random, and could mean specific spots on the map end up even more overpowered.
What’s Inside the Llamas?
The contents of a Llama has changed around a lot over the years. It started off with great loot, loads of matts, ammo, and other items. Over time, they’ve been pulled back. but they still give out max stacks of mats, along with ammo, and some great healing items. The Golden Llamas in Fortnite this season often drop self-revive devices.
The materials are probably the biggest benefit for most players. Maxing out your builds in Battle Royale is one of the best benefits. You probably won’t get as much out of Golden Llamas in Fortnite Zero Build. it’s just part of having a loot pool of Fortnite weapons for two completely different modes.
Riding the Llamas
Another feature that’s been added more recently is the ability to Ride Golden Llamas in Fortnite. This was added alongside shoulder riding in the April Fools Fortnite update. But while shoulder riding was disabled, Llama riding suck around.
It’s not a feature which is brand new, it’s basically the same wildlife riding from older Fortnite seasons. Just like back then, it adds mobility letting you get around easier. It also serves as a shield against body shots. Riding a Llama is part of how you interact with them this season. instead of hunting them down and shooting them or cracking them open, you ride them to “tame†the Llama.
This is going to be the more distracting feature while they’re in tournaments. Any mobility change or something that negates some damage has a big impact on the game’s meta.
