AMD is expanding its RDNA 3 catalog with the Radeon RX 7900 GRE, a card designed to play at 1440p and 4K without requesting a second loan. This GPU seeks to balance power and price in a market where every euro counts. With 16 GB of memory and a 256-bit bus, it promises to run demanding titles with ease, positioning itself as a sensible alternative to its big sisters and competition from NVIDIA.

RDNA 3 and performance: The recipe for efficiency 🎮

The RDNA 3 architecture relies on chiplets and a 5 nm node for the graphics die, combined with a 6 nm node for the memory controller. This allows the RX 7900 GRE to offer performance close to an RX 7900 XT, but with more controlled consumption. Equipped with 80 computing units and frequencies up to 2.4 GHz, the card handles ray-traced titles acceptably. Its strong point is pure rasterization, where it outperforms similarly priced options, although technologies like FSR 3 help extend its lifespan in 4K.

The GRE of sales: The GPU of good deals? 🠰

AMD named this card Golden Rabbit Editionwhich sounds like a lucky bunny or a supermarket limited edition. The reality is that its launch price, less than 600 euros, makes it the favorite option for those who want to play in 4K but are not ready to sell a kidney. Be careful, however, of rushing: if you find an offer and you go to buy it, make sure that it is not the Sales bunny which disappears from stock in a few seconds.
