This year’s Summer Game Fest showcase saw Fortnite launch it’s ‘Shattered’ event and now the map is looking very different for players. The team at Epic have also brought back fan-favourite Sprites, as well as a brand-new battle pass. You can watch the trailer from the showcase below, and we’ve grabbed the full patch notes for you as well.
Shattered Coast
Yesterday’s event blasted the map open, and changed up how the island appears, along with a shed-load of new weaponry and a new way to win. There are lots of lovely Sprites available to collect and help you on your path to victory, and here are some of the more unusual ones which can be found during play.
Rare
- Earth Sprite — You have a chance to find additional rare items when opening chests
- Fire Sprite — Creates a fiery burst when you deal enough damage to an enemy
- Water Sprite — Replenish shield while in water for you and your nearby Squad
Epic
- Duck Sprite — Emoting or Jamming replenishes shields
- Ghost Sprite — Grants cloak for a duration upon reloading
- Demon Sprite — Siphon some health and shields when you eliminate an opponent
- King Sprite — Your Pickaxe deals more damage
Legendary
- Dream Sprite — Grants a random item at each level, exploding with legendary loot at Max Level
- Punk Sprite — Possibly nothing… or infinitely something
Mythic
- Zero Point Sprite — Spawn a Shield Bubble Jr. when you use a healing item on yourself
Successful extractions will also earn players ‘Sprite Dust’ which you can spend at the start of a match to summon Sprites you have previously collected.
New Weapons
There are four new weapons available to collect. Later on in the season they will be joined by the ‘Bank Shot Pistol’ which can bounce off surfaces and hit targets from a ricochet.
Extending Focus Shotgun: long range, barrel lengthens as spread tightens across a 3-round volley
Surgical Burst Rifle: burst fire, low recoil, minimal damage falloff
Chaos Exploder Rifle: the Dark Voyager’s heavy AR, firing explosive cubes, especially nasty when playing around cover
Lancehead Pistol: John Wick’s sidearm, 21-round mag. Throw your magazine at nearby enemies when reloading for additional damage!
Alongside all of this, ranks have been reset, and new ranked rewards are available. There’s also a brand new rank to be achieved – the ‘Unreal Legend’ rank for players who hold at least 2,500+ Skill Rating, and place in the Top 500 on the Unreal Leaderboard at the same time.

Fixes and Improvements in v41.00
General
- Fixed an issue where the Build/Zero Build toggle might not appear when entering BR or Reload
- Using the right analog stick to rotate Battle Pass cosmetics no longer scrolls through them at the same time after entering the Passes tab with the mouse and keyboard
- Fixed an issue where some Outfits (Barricade, Elite Jules, The Foundation (Reforged) etc.) were missing Style icons, tags, or descriptions in the Locker
- The Exalted Ice King’s Wrathful and Golden Cold Outfit Styles now properly display the eye effects
- Fixed an issue where Skye’s Golden Agent Outfit Style could appear only partially gold for some players
- The Ranker’s Flourish Emote now displays accurate rank icons and stats
- Magik’s bangs now appear at their intended length
- The Dark Voyager’s leg belts and shoe textures now display properly
- Fixed visible jittering on Doodle-Doo’s crest and wattles
- Buff Perry, Hercules and Vegeta now show the correct sock colors when Kicks are equipped
- Megumi Fushiguro’s hair now displays correct shading while moving
PCÂ
- Re-enabled Ray Tracing on supported Intel video cards using driver version 32.0.101.8737 or newer
- Slightly improved game startup times across PC configurations
Mobile
- New Automatic Actions
- When in range, you can now automatically interact with nearby Containers, Ziplines, Ascenders, and revive DBNO players by standing near them
- Find them under Settings > Touch and Motion > Automatic Actions and let us know your thoughts!
- Turbo Building no longer stops after double-tapping a structure piece while already holding the Place button
- The Quick Bar now reverts correctly in the Vehicle HUD when using weapons or items
- Fixed an issue where the login page could sometimes appear blank and unresponsive on some Android devices until the screen was rotated
Battle Royale & Zero Build
- Vehicle fuel consumption slightly reduced, base driving speed slightly increased, and boost speed reduced
- Fixed an issue where Door Bashing an open door could sometimes close it on you
- Changing graphics settings no longer causes the whole map to incorrectly appear covered by the Storm
- Fixed a visual issue where the stamina bar could incorrectly appear orange as if the Slap effect was still active
- The Reset Building keybind now properly resets your structures while sprinting
- Fixed an issue where the Enter key could open Text Chat even after being bound to another action
- The Text Chat keybind can now also be properly changed
- Fixed an issue where friends could sometimes incorrectly appear as Offline in the Social sidebar
- Fixed a bug that allowed Emotes to be used while skydiving
ReloadÂ
- Dynamic Reboot Loadouts
- Dynamic Reboot Loadouts give players who reboot a greater sense of loot stability in the later stages of a match. The more Storm circles you survive in a match, the better your starting loadout will be if you are eliminated and reboot. Rebooting late game with the Common Assault Rifle is a thing of the past!
- New Mechanics
- Instead of eliminating you, lethal fall damage now drops you to 1 HP and removes your shields
- Reach the ground faster after dropping from the Battle Bus. Just remember to redeploy your Glider in time!
- Bus ADS: During the bus ride into a match, you can now aim down sights (ADS) to get a better view of the map. Also makes pinging and marking your drop site easier!
- The rank widget at the top of the screen no longer displays inconsistently on Starter Island or during the Battle Bus phase
- Fixed UI overlap with the Reload Bonus Goals message during Ranked Reload matches on PS4Â
Arenas
- Added 24 new room variations for a total of 110
- Increased baseline audio volume to improve gameplay sounds in each Arena
- Fixed an issue where Arenas was not properly showing new Ranked icons
- Fixed a visual bug where the Arenas rank progress could sometimes fail to display the rank percentage change on the post-match screen
- Eliminating a knocked (DBNO) player now correctly plays the elimination sound
- Fixed a bug that sometimes led to more waiting between rounds if there were an odd number of teams
Fortnite AND
- Volcano vents now properly propel you upward after being hit by an Impulse Grenade while gliding
- Removed an extra Trap icon that could appear in the top-left corner in Zero Build
- The Baller’s boosted hit visual effects now match their Chapter 1 design
- Terrain around Frosty Flights now renders correctly at long distances
- Some chests at Tilted Towers and Polar Peak no longer remain floating after their supporting structures are destroyed
- Cleaned up a visible texture seam at the Dig Site near Loot Lake
- Cleaned up several seams and rough edges, and added missing textures at Viking Village
- Removed several rocks and trees that were placed under the map at various locations
- Replaced a chest at Loot Lake with the correct variant
Save the World
- You can once again equip your Defenders with custom weapons
- Fixed a rare scenario that could prevent some players from loading into their Storm Shield Defense Mission
- Logging out from the Save the World Settings tab no longer causes an endless “Connecting…†screen or crashes on Xbox One when logging back in
- The Ancient’s Launcher no longer fires instantly when aiming and now properly locks on
- The Ancient’s Launcher projectile and explosion effects now appear correctly when in front of, behind or within the Storm wall
- Defenders will now consistently revive downed players
- Arrows shot above a downed Defender no longer get blocked by an invisible collision
- Enemies eliminated by Defenders and Wildlife now count towards Storm Chest objective completion
- Items now move without delay when transferring them from the Backpack to equipment slots on Nintendo Switch 2
- Storm fog no longer incorrectly covers the whole World Map after leaving a Mission early
- Your Power Level updates in real time again when changing Survivor Squads
- Fixed a visual issue where adding an item to the Collection Book could result in an error before the item appeared
- Mayhem’s Crossfire perk now displays an alert when a Commander with the Shock Tower ability is required and a T.E.D.D.Y. Hero is selected as lead
- You will now be warned about losing potential Mission rewards when leaving early through the Social sidebar
- Exclamation points in the Schematics tab now clear after all new items have been seen
- The Power Hour timer and message now appear on time if the event starts while you’re on the World Map
- Opening the Emote Wheel and an interactable Homebase menu at the same time no longer causes controls to stop working
- Lobby Music now has the correct echo effect when entering Homebase from the main Lobby, with consistent volume across menus
- Removed snow that could incorrectly appear on some shacks in Scurvy Shoals
- Homebase Banner textures now update immediately after changing your Banner
LEGO Fortnite
- Mos Eisley buildsets are no longer blocked and are now completable and can snap
- Fixed an issue where Bears could get stuck in front of specific structuresÂ
- Villages are now more resilient and cannot be destroyed by TitansÂ
- Golden Sheep can now leave the barnÂ
- Seliels’ crafting chest can be interacted with after completing certain QuestsÂ
- Fixed an issue where enemies fail to drop Chaos Embers when defeated by a following NPCÂ
- Fixed an issue where Bus Travel caused the Quests menu to increasingly lose functionalityÂ
- Oni Tyrants are spawning more than beforeÂ
- Tracked quests now show up correctly in-gameÂ
- Ice Dragon is now spawning after closing Chaos PortalsÂ
- The T4 Kyber Crystals now have the correct rarityÂ

- The Seaworthy Lighthouse lantern no longer disappears from inventory when placed
- Fixed randomized Outfit preview in the Locker so it matches the actual Outfit on the character
- The unclaimed lot area outline disappears and reappears after claiming and unclaiming the lot
- Seahorse Fish oriented correctly in the Fish Catching animation
- Items placed on the counter no longer hover above the surface
Fortnite Festival
- When playing Pro Drums with kits that have two kick pedals, you can now enable Double Kick under Settings > Game > Festival > Pro Parts to play supported songs that include these sections
- Change your Jam Tracks, Outfits and Emotes at one of the four new changing booths added to Jam StageÂ
- The Quick Mix and Now Playing UI elements now take up less screen space
- Improved Music Library and Quick Access Bar scrolling behavior
- Made further improvements to microphone detection on console devices
- The first input after an Emote break no longer counts as a double input, breaking your streaks
- Scoring adjustments to account for Cymbal play no longer apply incorrectly for Pro Drums
- Fixed an issue where the Show Lift Note Connectors setting could incorrectly disable roll/swell lanes and Overdrive activation trails on Pro Drums
- Overdrive gem colors now revert to regular colors when a gem is missed
- XP notifications no longer overlap the Streak Meter in Karaoke
- Fixed multiple cases of overlapping UI at different aspect ratios
- Fixed average input time calculation on Pro Drums
- Your Pro Drums score is no longer incorrectly calculated after restarting a song
- Suspending the Fortnite Mobile app no longer causes unintended UI to appear during gameplay
- The new part picker now dynamically shows Pro Parts when a peripheral is connected
- Extra Loops are no longer blocked when someone emotes in front of them
- Made additional performance improvements to reduce stuttering when using Jam Loops

General
- The Dark Cubic Sneakers’ preview may not load on the Passes screen, and the Kicks aren’t being granted properly to eligible Battle Pass owners
- The Health and Shield bar may incorrectly show 82 points even when full
- Helsie’s hair may move unnaturally on DirectX 12 at 60 FPS or higher framerate
PC
- Some players on Windows versions earlier than 25H2 (Build 26200) may not see DLSS options after updating to the latest NVIDIA drivers
- We’re investigating and will update this list as soon as DLSS options are available again
Mobile
- Using the “Tap Anywhere†firing mode may be unresponsive on touch input
- Temporary Workaround:Â Use the dedicated Shoot HUD button in the meantime while we work on a fix
Battle Royale & Zero Build
- [Ranked/Competitive] Some chests may appear already opened or drop no loot
- Fire Sprites may not trigger consistently if your target is airborne or hit by splash damage
- Your character’s upper body may not follow the camera while aiming or shooting on Wonkeeland Grind Rails
- In Ranked matches, the stamina bar may remain white instead of turning orange when the Slap effect is activeÂ
- Chaos Exploder Rifle shots may be blocked by an invisible barrier in some Particle Accelerator areas
- We’ve disabled the Skydive Leader split screen feature to fix a bug that prevented some players from deploying their Glider after exiting the Battle Bus
- Skydive Leader will be re-enabled in the v41.10 update
Save the World
- We’re investigating inconsistent weapon damage output, particularly during Mythic Storm King fights
- [Simple Edit] UI does not update to reflect the reset after editing a structure
- [Xbox One] Directional Jump Pads won’t activate when Phase Shifting onto them
- The Hero Commander Buckle+ Perk currently provides reduced effective damage as weapon level increases
LEGO Fortnite
- The health bar will be adjusted to remain visible at all times during combat, even when the player is at full health
- Exiting a vehicle now requires holding the exit button instead of a single press. Input bugs related to exiting vehicles will be resolved in a future update with a move back to a single press
- In a future update, Zeppelin Balloons and Hot Air Balloons will be fully customizable per channel using the wrench tool. For now, they’ll default to channels 5 and 6 until that update rolls out
- Sometimes Hover Bricks get confused, and your vehicle might appear to drift slowly upward into the sky – this is visual-only
- Walk over to where your hovercraft was before it started floating off, hop on, and the position will snap right back into placeÂ
Fortnite Festival
- The green fret on the guitar peripherals may stop responding during Local Multiplayer
- Scrolling the Music Library too fast may cause a delay in loading earned Stars
- Yellow and blue pads may not be properly detected on Xbox MadCatz drumkits
- Gold Band Star visual effects may overlap other UI elements
- Auto-Emote setting may not always apply properly
- Pro Vocals note tubes may appear distorted on sharp pitch changes
- Pro Drums Overdrive gems may cause lower-than-intended scores if mistimed against other gems
- Extra inputs may register when playing Pro Drums with Double Kick enabled if more than one pedal is unpressed at the same time
