SEOUL, June 8 (Yonhap) — South Korean memory chipmaker SK hynix Inc. said Monday it has signed a multi-year technology partnership with Nvidia Corp. to advance next-generation memory technologies for artificial intelligence (AI) factories.

The agreement builds on several years of co-engineering between the two companies, which support the world’s most advanced AI computing platforms, according to SK hynix.

“SK hynix and Nvidia have cooperated for years and this partnership reflects the depth of this collaboration,” said SK Group boss Chey Tae-won in a press release.

“Together, we will co-develop next-generation memory for AI factories and bring AI to semiconductor design and manufacturing. This work will shape the future of AI infrastructure.”

SK hynix said the partnership would also expand reach into new AI-related areas, including personal AI and physical AI, helping to ensure a stable supply of advanced memories despite long development cycles in the industry.

“AI factories are driving the next industrial revolution and advanced memory is essential to their performance,” said Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang.

As part of the deal, the companies plan to co-develop chips for Nvidia’s next-generation systems, including Vera Rubin AI supercomputers.

The partnership also aims to support growing global demand for AI infrastructure by aligning memory supply with Nvidia’s long-term roadmap.

The announcement came during Huang’s trip to South Korea, which includes a series of meetings with the bosses of major conglomerates and researchers.
