Hénaff, Paysans Breton, Guyader gastronomie… Autant de sociétés labellisées “Produced in Brittany” but from now on we must add a video game creation studio near Rennes: Wild wits games won this distinction recently. The company launched five years ago, in Cesson-Sévigné, and if it has been rewarded, it is above all because everything is designed in the region.

“Our games are made from A to Z, mainly in Rennes and Brest. We do not outsource our services. Typically, certain studios can call on Asian studios to do the animation. We have people who are in the office, who do the animation at home and everything is centralized here.

“Typically, what we are experiencing is in a certain way a spin-off because it can arouse curiosity at the local level. This opens up contacts and perhaps opportunities for us, whether media or partnership.. “Products in Brittany” is a circle of members and we discuss together, we meet up. There, we think that It would be very funny to have a Hénaff pâté in our game because there are a lot of topics around food in our game Sovereign tower. This company is part of “Produits en Bretagne”, and we will be able to discuss our idea. This allows us to go deeper into the imagination that we are building, a medieval Brittany revisited in a somewhat modern way.”continues Corto Laly.

Based in the premises of Creative Seeds, the Rennes school which trains people in 3D animation and video games in particular, the Wild Wits Games company also co-exists with other studios including Pixel Butter and Drama Studios.

“We are not a region where there are many video game studios, there are regions where it is much stronger: Bordeaux, Paris, Lyon are cities where there are many very large studios. We now have Montpellier with Sandfall Interactive, so Clair Obscur on Expedition 33. On the other hand, there is a desire in Rennes, with my colleagues, to ensure that there are more and more studios. We’re not sad when a game works well, we’re very happy. This means that players like this type of game. And often, there is rather solidarity between studios, that is to say that we share what is happening in the sector, whether from a publishing point of view. We sometimes share tasks, we ask friends for help. And we hope that there will be more studios in Rennes and even in Brittany”, says Corto Laly.
