CORDES LAKES, AZ (AZFamily) — Search and rescue teams are looking for a Verde Valley man who went camping by himself and never came home.

Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office says Mark Eric Young left Thursday for a solo camping trip along Bloody Basin Road off Interstate 17.

Young is described as a white man who is 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs 165 lbs.

He reportedly took Forest Roads 269, 16, and 16A in a rented Kia SUV.

Young was supposed to meet a family friend for dinner Friday night in Verde Valley, but he never showed up. His family reported him missing Friday evening, and search crews headed out around 9 p.m. that night.

On Saturday, law enforcement found Young’s vehicle on Forest Road 16 in Yavapai County.

If you’ve seen Young or know anything about where he might be, you’re encouraged to contact YCSO at 928-771-3266.

Multiple agencies are helping with the search, including the Yavapai County Jeep Posse, Back Country units, an Arizona Department of Public Safety Ranger, and Maricopa County FOX 1 helicopters.
