GAINESVILLE, Fla. – State and local firefighters are fighting a large wildfire in northeast Gainesville, threatening structures and leading to evacuations, according to the Florida Forest Service.

FFS officials said Sunday the fire has burned about 25 acres, primarily on the west side of N. Main St. between NE 53rd Ave. and NE 39th Ave.

N. Main St. and NE. 53rd Ave. are closed in the area.

The agency has not said how many structures are threatened or how many people are evacuating the area.

FFS says Alachua County Fire Rescue and Gainesville Fire Rescue are also on the scene.

Officials say updates will be released as they become available.
