THESE, MAKE SURE YOU JUST HEAD INSIDE. >> DEFINITELY A GOOD IDEA. ESPECIALLY IF YOU HEAR THUNDER TOO. >> WELL, SUCH A SPECIFIC SPECIFICALLY, WOW, I CAN SPIT IT OUT. WHEN YOU HEAR THUNDER, YOU NEED TO GO INSIDE BECAUSE WE’RE GETTING TO THAT TIME OF YEAR. IT LIGHTNING CAN STRIKE FAR AWAY FROM CLOUDS AND GOOD RULE OF THUMB IS THAN 10 MILES. BUT THERE’S BEEN REPORTS OF ANY EVEN LIGHTNING. 25 MILES OUT FROM A THUNDERSTORM. I’M NOT EXPECTING ANY CRAZY FUNNEL CLOUDS LIKE WHAT WE SAW YESTERDAY ARE NOWHERE NEAR AS MUCH COVERAGE ACROSS THE GULF COAST THIS AFTERNOON COMPARED TO SUNDAY. HERE’S ALL THE RAIN THAT WE HAVE ON THE MAP RIGHT NOW. MOST OF IT IS IN LEE COUNTY. JUST SOME SPRINKLES THERE IN SOUTHERN CAPE CORAL. THAT’S LONG. CAPE CORAL PARKWAY. THESE LITTLE CELLS, SOME OF THE PRETTY FAST MOVING OFF TO THE NORTH AND THE WEST. AND SO YOU’LL GET A DOWNPOUR AND THEN WILL DRY OUT REAL QUICK RIGHT AFTER IT. AND AGAIN, THAT’S WHERE MOST OF THE RAIN IS CONFINED TO A LITTLE BIT ON PINE ISLAND AS WELL. AND THEN WILL ALSO START TO SEE SOME STRIDE TO DEVELOP UP TOWARDS CHARLOTTE HARBOR AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE REST OF THIS AFTERNOON. I THINK THAT’S HONESTLY ONE OF THE BEST SPOTS TO SEE SOME RAIN LATER ON TODAY. THOSE DAILY RAIN CHANCES THAT ARE HELPED UP BY DRY AIR TODAY, MEANING WE ARE GOING TO SEE AS MUCH COVERAGE BOTH MONDAY AND TUESDAY. BUT I CAN’T SAY THE SAME THING FOR THE LATER PART OF THE WORKWEEK. WE ARE EXPECTING A SURGE IN SOME TROPICAL MOISTURE AND THAT’S GOING TO BRING MORE WIDESPREAD RAIN CHANCES AND THE HIGHER RAINFALL ACCUMULATIONS. NOW WE ARE. WE ARE ALSO ONE WEEK AWAY FROM HURRICANE SEASON THAT WILL BEGIN ON JUNE. 1ST, THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER IS NOT TRACKING ANYTHING IN THE TROPICS AT THIS TIME, BUT WE ARE GOING TO KEEP AN EYE ON THAT TROPICAL MOISTURE SURGE THAT COULD BE BRINGING THOSE BENEFICIAL RAINFALL TOTALS AND OTHER IMPACTS TO THE GULF COAST LATE IN THE WEEK. HERE’S A LOOK AT WHAT THE RAIN COULD BE LIKE FOR THE REST OF YOUR MONDAY. LIKE I SAID, I’M NOT EXPECTING ANYTHING LIKE WHAT WE SAW YESTERDAY. THOSE STORMS DID TRY TO PACK A PUNCH ACROSS THE GULF COAST BY 5 O’CLOCK. WE STILL HAVE A FEW LITTLE CELLS ON THE MAP STILL FAVORING THE I-75 CORRIDOR. COVERAGE IS NOT AS HIGH AS IT HAS BEEN BECAUSE OF THAT DRIER AIR IN PLACE. AND WHATEVER DOES DEVELOP WILL CONTINUE TO FLOW OFF TO THE NORTH AND THE WEST AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE LATER HOURS ON MONDAY. ON TUESDAY, WE GET TO DO IT ALL OVER AGAIN. RINSE AND REPEAT, SET UP WITH A LOWER RAIN CHANCE TO 20% COVERAGE. BUT WEDNESDAY IS WHEN WE’RE GONNA START TO PICK THINGS BACK UP AGAIN IN TERMS OF HOW MUCH RAIN WE COULD BE SEEING BACK UP TO THOSE 40% CHANCE OF AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS ON WEDNESDAY, THURSDAY, FRIDAY, SATURDAY, WE PICKED UP THAT COVERAGE TO 60% AT THE SAME TIME. AN INCREASE IN CLOUD COVER WILL DROP THOSE TEMPERATURES JUST EVER SO SLIGHTLY. AS WE MOVE THROUGH THE BACK END OF THAT 7 DAY FORECAST PERIOD. SO WANT TO TALK ABOUT THOSE RAIN CHANCES AND HOW THEY CLIMB TOWARDS THE END OF THE WORKWEEK BECAUSE WE’RE EXPECTING MORE MOISTURE CONTENT IN THE AIR. AND THAT WAS THE TOTALS THAT WE COULD SEE ACROSS THE GULF COAST, NOT JUST THOSE LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS THAT WE GET DURING RAINY SEASON STORMS. ALMOST EVERYBODY COULD BENEFIT FROM THIS. NOW THIS IS SHOWING ANYWHERE FROM 3 TO 4 INCHES OF RAIN, RAIN POTENTIAL OVER THE NEXT WEEK. BUT I WOULDN’T BE SURPRISED IF WE SEE SOME HIGHER NUMBERS, SOME LOWER NUMBERS AS WELL. MIXED ONTO THE MAP. THIS IS MORE OF JUST KIND OF AN ESTIMATE ACROSS THE GULF COAST AND ONE TREND THAT I LIKE ABOUT THIS IS THE NUMBERS KEEP GOING UP IN TERMS OF HOW MUCH RAIN WE COULD SEE OVER THE NEXT WEEK. THIS ISN’T GOING TO CLEAR OUT OUR DROUGHT COMPLETELY. BUT THIS TYPE OF SETUP IS THE STUFF THAT WE NEED WITHOUT ALL THE SIDE EFFECTS LIKE SEVERE WEATHER, DAMAGING WINDS, ANYTHING LIKE THAT. BUT RAIN LIKE THIS WILL START TO CHIP AWAY AT THE DROUGHT CONDITIONS ACROSS THE GULF COAST. THAT WOULD BE A GOOD THING F
