JAKARTA – Minister of Communications and Digitalization Meutya Hafid revealed that several electronic system operators (ESOs) had done a self-assessment or PP Tunas self-assessment for child protection.

Based on the reports until June 9, 2026, 175 products, services and functions (PLF) under the protection of 64 PSEs have submitted the self-assessment results to Komdigi for further evaluation.

“It has been brought to pass since the implementation of the TUNAS PP at the end of March 2026. Currently, there are about 175 PLFs under the protection of 64 PSEs which have made a self-assessment and conducted it at Kemkomdigi,” Meutya said in his declaration on Tuesday June 9.

The self-assessment notification process is a form of platform compliance with the TUNAS PP, by carrying out an internal assessment of the respective products, functions and services or their platform. The results are then communicated directly to Komdigi.

Platforms that have already reported include Netflix, Vidio, HBO Max, Disney, Roblox, PUBG Online, Crossfire, Age of Empire Mobile, Valorant, Free Fire and Mobile.

As for the e-commerce categories that reported on the self-assessment, i.e. Shopee, Tokopedia, Lazada and TikTok Shop. In the category of payment systems such as Dana, Gopay, Flip.id, as well as ChatGPT and Grab for other categories.

The self-assessment of organizers of digital platforms is part of the obligation to comply with Government Regulation No. 17 of 2025 on the governance of the establishment of electronic systems in the protection of children (PP TUNAS) which was fully implemented at the end of last March.

There are several aspects that need to be assessed, including identifying the risk level of the platform for users under 16, the possibility of exposure to harmful content (violence, pornography, harassment), the readiness and accuracy of the age verification system, as well as the content moderation mechanisms and the availability of parental control features.

Subsequently, the results of the assessment will serve as the basis for determining the risk category of the platform and its suitability for certain age groups.

Regarding this issue, Indonesia has chosen a mechanism that not only focuses on protecting children, but also encourages platforms to make reforms in functions and governance in order to be safer for child users.

“This approach differs from that of some countries which apply blanket restrictions on children’s access to social media platforms. Platforms must also want to change for the better. “That’s why we measure the changes they make, including the features that are developed to make the platforms healthier for children,” Meutya said.
