The world’s most frequented cinema may not be so starting this Saturday afternoon. After two days of strike action on December 20th and March 1st, employees of the UGC at the Forum des Halles (1st arrondissement) have announced the start of an indefinite strike, according to a statement from CGT Spectacle, SNEC CGT, and UD CGT Paris.

The text highlights concerns about low wages, insufficient and inadequately trained staff, lack of recognition despite verbal and physical assaults from some customers, late-night and weekend work, and limited flexibility to organize holidays during school breaks.

They are demanding negotiations to secure a fixed salary increase of at least 5%, an availability bonus, a monthly effort bonus, seniority revaluation, and adequate staffing levels. The scale of the movement and its impact on cinema showings are currently unknown.
