Kacey Musgraves didn’t just kick off a boring Coachella set – she actually trotted in on a horse, setting the stage for what turned out to be a set full of surprises.
After dismounting, Musgraves opened the pre-announced “surprise” performance with the live debut of her brand new single “Middle of Nowhere.” She also seemed to tease Justin Bieber and his Weekend One concert filled with YouTube videos, opening the computer only for an alien to appear, followed by a segment of her beloved 2019 Coachella appearance (“When I say ‘Yeah,’ you say ‘Ha,’ I didn’t say f**king ‘YEE!'”). She even covered some classic country songs, adding new lyrics to George Strait’s “All My Exes Live in Texas” and singing Brooks & Dunn’s “Neon Moon.”
But her own fans were probably more excited about the new music premieres; Musgraves performed the unreleased tracks “Back on the Wagon” and “Uncertain, TX” from her upcoming album “Middle of Nowhere.” I think this record could be pretty good.
