The “Women In Motion” event, a must-attend at the Cannes Film Festival since 2015, pays tribute to women in cinema every year. This year, it honored an American actress in front of a crowd of stars.

After celebrating its 10th anniversary at the 2025 Cannes Film Festival, “Women In Motion” continues its mission of highlighting women in the film industry. In addition to a series of talks held at the Carlton Penthouse, the program launched by Kering presented its two annual awards last night: the “Women In Motion” Emerging Talent Award to Margherita Spampinato and the “Women In Motion” Award to Julianne Moore.

Actors present at the festival gathered at Suquet on the heights of Cannes to celebrate these two talents. Isabelle Huppert and Rami Malek posed together on the red carpet, accompanied by Charlotte Lebon and Daisy Edgar Jones. Also present were Carla Bruni, Pierre Niney and his wife Natasha Andrews, Laure Calamy, Léa Seydoux, Xavier Dolan, actress-director Monia Chokri, Farida Khelfa, actress and musician Pomme, Géraldine Pailhas, and Demi Moore.

The evening began with François-Henri Pinault, President of the Kering Board of Directors and founder of “Women In Motion”, followed by Iris Knobloch, President of the Cannes Film Festival, who emphasized the importance of visibility turning into opportunities. Italian filmmaker Margherita Spampinato received her award for her debut film “Gioia Mia”.

Festival General Delegate Thierry Frémaux then presented the award to Julianne Moore, highlighting her as the first American actress to receive acting awards at the Venice, Berlin, and Cannes film festivals. Moore, on stage, expressed her love for actresses, praising her friend Salma Hayek Pinault and Isabelle Huppert, emphasizing the importance of women’s voices.

The event also featured female filmmakers such as Chloé Zhao and Géraldine Nakache, with Zhao serving on the competition jury. French filmmaker Géraldine Nakache was the guest of a “Women In Motion” talk about her fourth film, “Si tu penses bien”, which is selected for Cannes Première.
