Representing the main monuments of Lavaur was the request made by Lavaur FC to Alexis Bottan to design their jerseys.

Since the 2020 season, viewers accustomed to watching Lavaur FC matches have noticed that the players regularly wear original jerseys during matches. In blue or red, the Vauréens’ tunics feature designs showcasing Lavaur’s main monuments: the Jacquemart, the Saint-Alain Cathedral, the 3 Grâces, the Tour des Rondes, and the former Palais de Justice, now the town hall. Behind these designs is Alexis Bottan.

A true native of Lavaur, Alexis Bottan, who now works as an architect, has been a drawer since a young age. “I am above all a creative person and I have always drawn since I was a child,” he says. Accustomed to courts and the orange ball, he played in Lavaur before moving on to Colomiers and spending a year at the Roanne training center in Loire. Yet, it was a football club that called upon Alexis Bottan’s artistic talents. “Through Thomas Pagès, a friend involved in the club, I was asked to create designs for the jerseys. The idea was to represent the monuments, then I had carte blanche for the interpretation,” he explains.

The result is quite original: Alexis Bottan drew the monuments, some from photos, in a stylized way with pastel colors. “When I draw, my goal is to naturally convey the emotion that the subject inspires in me. That’s what I liked about this project. And drawing the city’s monuments where I live is really cool!” he adds.

This experience has inspired him to propose his drawing ideas to other clubs in the city. In the meantime, Alexis Bottan is dedicated to developing his architect firm A + B, drawing, and painting, drawing inspiration from artists like Kandisky, Miro, or L7M, as well as from animals, architecture, cars, and music.
