In an interview published in the US Sun this Sunday, former model Kayti Edwards revealed that she told Cher she was the grandmother of her daughter, born from her troubled relationship with her son in 2010. An announcement that left the 79-year-old singer “speechless.”
This unexpected news came to Cher through an interview published in the US Sun on Sunday, April 19, by former model Kayti Edwards – who also happens to be the ex-partner of Cher’s son, Elijah Blue Allman. Kayti confessed that she broke the news herself to the singer of “Believe,” revealing that she was the grandmother of a 15-year-old girl named Ever during an emotional phone call in June 2025, following Elijah’s overdose.
“Cher contacted me last June and asked if it was true, so I had to admit,” said the woman who now lives on a ranch in Joshua Tree with her four children and husband. Cher informed her family, saying, “Oh my God, I’m finally a grandmother.”
Elijah and I spent the night together, and I got pregnant. He knew from day one, but he never wanted to be a parent. He found out about our child only after his overdose in 2021 when he finally revealed the existence to his then-partner. This sparked rumors of a hidden child in the family. “He then sent me a message saying he wanted to reconcile,” the former model continued.
Today, under Cher’s emergency guardianship due to his drug and financial management issues, Elijah does not seem to play a central role in his daughter’s life. Kayti praises her current husband as a wonderful father to her children.
After accepting her new role, the 79-year-old singer met her new granddaughter, Ever, and had a fantastic experience together. Cher showed her concert jeans and engaged with Ever on a personal level, trying to build a bond naturally without pressure.
Cher sent Ever a Christmas card and gift, and they talked on the phone. Cher is making an effort, but she believes relationships should evolve naturally. As she approaches 80, Cher is embracing a new life away from the limelight and glamour.
