Former BVB player Nuri Sahin (37) may have had a short-lived coaching stint with the club, but it was not considered a success. Sahin became the coach of Dortmund on July 1, 2024, only to part ways in January 2025.
Speaking on the YouTube channel KAFA Sports, Sahin revealed his desire to bring Real Madrid star Arda Guler (21) to Dortmund during his time at BVB. Despite offering Guler a deal, the young player was determined to make a name for himself at Real Madrid and declined the offer.
Sahin respected Guler’s decision and acknowledged that the rejection turned out to be the right choice for the player. Guler has since established himself at Real Madrid, showcasing his talent with standout performances in the Champions League.
While a potential transfer of Guler to BVB remained a thought, Sahin’s coaching tenure at Dortmund was cut short due to unsatisfactory results. After a series of losses, the club made the decision to part ways with Sahin, who now coaches at Basaksehir in Turkey.
