Currently third in the Ligue 1 standings, OL is tied with Lille. As the season winds down, the Ligue 1 channel has asked its journalists and consultants to make a prediction.
Olympique Lyonnais knows that before hosting Stade Rennais at Groupama Stadium next weekend, they cannot afford any mistakes if they want to finish third and secure the €50 million ticket for the next Champions League. The battle with Lille will be intense, as both clubs are level on points and goal difference. The broadcaster of the French championship, Ligue 1+, has asked its journalists and consultants to predict which club will finish third in the Ligue 1 standings, with OL, Lille, Rennes, and Marseille all in contention. Out of ten responses, only two believe that Olympique Lyonnais will come out on top.
OL is not favored by Ligue 1+
Within the sports channel, which will broadcast 100% of Ligue 1 next season, the vast majority are betting on Bruno Genesio’s LOSC to finish third. Seven out of ten foresee Lille finishing behind PSG and Lens, including Giovanni Castaldi, Smaïl Bouabdellah, and Xavier Domergue. Two members of Ligue 1+ are convinced that Paulo Fonseca’s team will succeed in their ambitious goal of securing third place. One member voted for Olympique de Marseille, Sébastien Dupuis.
