In the Romand family, a passion for football is passed down from father to son. It all started in 1954, when Guy Romand got his first license at the age of 15 at the Mouzay club.

Fast, lively, elusive on his left wing, he quickly earned a nickname : “la pétrolette”. After starting at Mouzay, he continued his career in Dun before finishing in Stenay in 1989, at the age of 49. In 1987, a significant moment further sealed this family passion. He played alongside his son Fabrice, father of Guillaume. “My father, Guillaume recounts, was in goal while my grandfather was speeding down his left wing.”

Guillaume Romand, on the other hand, got his first license at just 6 years old at the ASSM in Stenay. He played there throughout his youth, including a Meuse Cup final in U13, under the guidance of his father, who was then the coach. After a few seasons in Buzancy (08), he returned to Stenay as a goalkeeper, before an injury ended his playing career. But he couldn’t stay away from the field. He then took over the presidency of the club for seven years, before passing the torch last year to the vice-president Pierre-Olivier Pascual. His mother Sylvie also participated in this family adventure by regularly running the bar!

Football also accompanies the family far beyond the local stadiums. Guillaume fondly remembers his many trips to Sedan with his parents: “My first match, I was in my mother’s belly,” he humorously recalls. This was followed by years of subscription to CSSA, as well as two Coupe de France finals experienced at the Stade de France with his father and grandfather.

All to the stadium A loyal supporter of Sedan, Guillaume also greatly admires Olympique Lyonnais. He particularly appreciates the vision of former president Jean-Michel Aulas, whom he admires for elevating the club to the top of French football.

Today, the future is assured with his son Mathis. From a young age, with a ball at his feet in the garden or in the street, he shows the same passion. Licensed in Stenay since the age of 5, he mainly plays in midfield, sometimes as a goalkeeper. And when Guillaume, his father, Fabrice, and his grandfather Guy gather on the sidelines to cheer him on, it’s four generations of passionate football enthusiasts coming together to experience the game’s excitement.
