Morocco’s King Mohammed VI appointed his son, Crown Prince Moulay El Hassan, as the coordinator of the offices and services of the general staff of the army, according to an official statement released on Saturday.
Chief of the Royal Armed Forces (FAR) General Staff, Mohammed VI “was pleased to appoint” the 22-year-old prince as “coordinator of the offices and services of the general staff,” the royal cabinet said.
“Discipline, integrity, and commitment”
The 62-year-old king himself held this position – at the heart of the senior ranks of the FAR organizational chart – starting in 1985, after being appointed by his father, Hassan II, the statement specified.
“The Royal Armed Forces are based, in carrying out their national duty and humanitarian and social missions, […] on a set of noble values, including competence and discipline, integrity and commitment, sincere patriotism, and a high sense of responsibility that permeates their various components,” the statement read.
Prince Moulay El Hassan is the son of King Mohammed VI of Morocco and Princess Lalla Salma. Born on May 8, 2003, he is the heir to the Alawite throne and holds the title of Crown Prince of Morocco.
