Borussia Mönchengladbach is already working on the squad for the upcoming season and has set its sights on an exciting talent from the 3rd division.
According to BILD information, Borussia is specifically interested in Ismail Badjie (20) from VfL Osnabrück. There has already been an exchange between the two sides. Particularly noteworthy: The offensive player has even been on site to get an impression of the club, environment, and conditions at Gladbach.
This means that the interest is more than just casual observation!
Gladbach is not alone in this pursuit. Other Bundesliga clubs also have Badjie on their radar. The poker game for this offensive gem could soon pick up speed.
Who is the man that several first division clubs want? Badjie is a true homegrown talent of VfL Osnabrück. He has been playing for the Lower Saxony club since the U11 level, going through all youth teams of the club. Last season, he finally made his debut with the professionals and has been on a steep rise since then.
He already has 41 appearances in the 3rd division on his resume. Particularly remarkable: This season, Badjie has scored eight goals and provided one assist – even though he has mostly been used as a substitute. Impressive numbers indeed.
His biggest weapons: explosiveness, pace, and strong one-on-one actions. Badjie seeks direct duels, speeds past opponents, and can be flexibly used offensively. Whether on the wings, behind the strikers, or with attacking runs.
In Osnabrück, they naturally hope to keep their talent. His contract runs until 2028 – so it won’t be an easy solution for interested parties.
Sportingly, VfL Osnabrück is currently experiencing a dream season. After the recent 2-1 home win against SC Verl, Osnabrück is on the brink of returning to the 2nd Bundesliga as the table topper.
