After 2 years of absence, the French team will return to Bordeaux in the fall of 2026. The French Football Federation officially announced on Tuesday the organization of a France – Turkey match at the Matmut Atlantique on Sunday, November 15, as part of the group stage of the 2026-2027 Nations League.
The Blues return to the Atlantique stadium in Bordeaux
The last visit of the French team to Bordeaux dates back to June 9, 2024. Didier Deschamps’ men then faced Canada in a preparation match for the Euros, in a sold-out Atlantique stadium.
This new match against Turkey will mark the 7th meeting in the history of the Blues in Bordeaux. A choice made by Philippe Diallo, president of the FFF, who wants the French team to “get as close as possible to the supporters” everywhere in the country.
A decisive match in the Nations League
Before this Bordeaux meeting, the schedule includes: Turkey – France on September 25, Belgium – France on September 28, France – Italy on October 2 at the Stade de France, France – Belgium on October 5 at the Stade de France, Italy – France on November 12 and France – Turkey on November 15 in Bordeaux. This last match could be decisive for the Blues’ qualification in the competition.
The first steps of Zinedine Zidane on the Blues’ bench?
This Bordeaux match could also have a special significance. After the 2026 World Cup, Didier Deschamps is expected to leave his position as manager, with Zinedine Zidane emerging as the leading candidate to succeed him.
If this appointment is confirmed, Bordeaux could host one of the very first high-stakes matches for “Zizou” at the helm of the French team.
