Japanese culture conquered Lourdes during Japan Day, bringing together more than 1,200 visitors to the Espace Robert-Hossein. Between traditions and pop culture, the event confirms a lasting local enthusiasm for Japan.

Japanese culture was in the spotlight today in Lourdes, on the occasion of the second edition of Japan Day, an event now well anchored in the local calendar.

Hosted at the Espace Robert-Hossein, this 2nd cultural event on the theme of Japan offered a real journey between ancestral traditions and contemporary pop culture. A lovely trip for young and old who were able to immerse themselves in the Japanese universe without leaving the Pyrenees.

Building on the success of its first edition, organized by the City in partnership with Geek Events, this second meeting confirmed the public’s enthusiasm: “With more than 1,200 entries recorded again this year, the attendance testifies to the growing interest in this event”, explained the elected officials of the city of Lourdes, who came in large numbers and delighted to explore the multiple facets of Japanese culture.

Exhibitors, conferences, dance and iaido demonstrations, video games, cosplay competitions, jewelry stands, sweets and specialties: visitors of all ages were able to discover or rediscover the riches of Japanese culture in a friendly and immersive atmosphere.

Curious, passionate, families and gamers shared a wonderful day in the land of the Rising Sun, whose culture and unique identity, shaped by centuries of history, continue to fascinate. A new edition is already on track.
