Figeac: Rich program on April 25 for the Occitan Culture and Language Meetings

Discussions, cinema, concerts and balls are on the menu. 

On the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Institute of Occitan Studies of Lot (IEO d’Olt), the Department of Lot, the Regional Natural Park – UNESCO Global Geopark of the Causses du Quercy and Grand-Figeac are joining forces to organize the Meetings of Occitan culture and language. They will take place in Figeac on Saturday April 25 from 2 p.m. with different moments: meetings, cinema, concert and ball.

From 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., the Assises de l’Occitan will take place at the Astrolabe on the theme “Exploring new forms of cooperation”

This moment of exchange, with free access to anyone who feels interested in Occitan, aims to better understand the actors who bring the language to life, show the richness of the initiatives, think together and work to develop action in favor of Occitan culture in the region.

At 5:45 p.m., L’Occitan presents its cinema with the screening of Le Seria, a cultural comedy, joyfully southern and 100% Occitanie, directed by Amic Bedel and Julien Campredon on the screenplay. Free entry (duration 40 mins)

At 9 p.m., the evening is organized by the Institute of Occitan Studies of Lot and the La Granja association

“Onor a una dama de cor d’Occitana” with a concert then a ball, Salle Balène, in tribute to the Figeac resident Alberte Forestier, storyteller, singer and radio host.

Concert with Jacqueline Taurrand, Group of Lotois singers, Trio Camin Fasem, Juliette and André Minvielle, winner of the Jazz Academy in 2025, singer and percussionist adept at vocal chemistry, a mixture of scat, blues and rap. Then Occitan ball with Xavier Vidal and the Rémolin collective.
