Reverend Lebaredian, vice president of Omniverse and simulation technologies at NVIDIA, believes that Armenia has strong potential to advance in the field of artificial intelligence.

Speaking to journalists in Yerevan, Lebaredian stressed that in essence, no one yet fully knows how to use artificial intelligence or how to keep pace with its development.

“Because this technology is new and evolving very quickly, the whole world has, from this point of view, become much more equal. Every individual and every country is now, to some extent, unfamiliar with it. This creates an opportunity for everyone. In Armenia, anyone who wants to work in the field of artificial intelligence and develop expertise there has the same opportunities as in the United States or anywhere else in the world. It is up to you to decide whether you want to seize this opportunity or not,” Lebaredian said.

He stressed the importance of having the necessary infrastructure to guarantee access to artificial intelligence, adding that Armenia has great potential to progress in this area.

“And it is up to us to seize this opportunity or not, to use it or to waste it,” Lebaredian stressed.

He stated with regret that due to historical circumstances he did not have the opportunity to be born in his native country, but came to Armenia as soon as possible.

“I consider this country as mine; I even obtained nationality there. I believe in Armenia, in its capabilities and in its intelligence. I believe that we are hardworking, that we care about others and that we have strong values. I also believe that we can contribute to the development of the world. I think you already have proof. HAS”

It is through the natural work ethic and curiosity of Armenians that we begin to do new things. Today we are witnessing a unification: we are pooling all these opportunities, and when we have a strategy in which everyone can participate and which allows us to move in the same direction, the results will multiply. In this case, we will progress faster than all the others,” he said.

Lebaredian shared the view that artificial intelligence is not just about science and technology, but also about geopolitical power and new opportunities.

“Of course. If we look at the second industrial revolution, it began with a completely new technology: the ability to produce electricity. That was about a century ago. Initially, only a few countries mastered it – England, that is, Great Britain – then it began to spread. The United States also developed it, but it took a long time before it spread to other countries. Those who possessed it first had an advantage. They are the ones who brought it to the rest of the world. HAS”

Armenia is only at the very beginning of this process. As I said, we will be among the top five countries in the world in terms of number of GPUs, more than any major European country. We have this asset, and we can exploit it now to become a major player on the international scene,” Lebaredian explained.

From a geopolitical point of view, it is encouraging, according to him, to see peace being established in the South Caucasus.

“Throughout its history, Armenia has suffered from its small size, its landlocked location and its mountainous location, at the crossroads of great empires which have constantly disturbed it. This same disadvantage can be transformed into an advantage if we are smart and learn to take advantage of this position. HAS”

Being at the crossroads of empires is an opportunity. We can be a link between empires, a bridge for the world. We have always been a link between East and West, at the heart of the Silk Road. We can exchange our skills for what we need from other countries, attract their energy and export our know-how.

This makes us important not only to ourselves, but also to others. Ultimately, it is an essential condition for peace and prosperity. If you are not important to others, why would they come to help you? We have to make ourselves important, and this is how we do it,” Lebaredian said.

In June 2025, it was announced that, through cooperation between the Armenian government, NVIDIA, Firebird and Team Group, the region’s most powerful supercomputing and data processing center, leveraging artificial intelligence solutions, would be built in Armenia. An initial investment of $500 million was announced for the first phase.

On February 10, 2026, Firebird and the US government officially announced the launch of the second phase of the project, with total investments planned at approximately $4 billion. By the end of the year, 50,000 GPUs, planned as part of this second phase, should be deployed.
