OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) – First Alert 6 has the headlines you need to know to get your Friday started.
1 injured, 2 in custody after crash at Omaha gas station
One person is injured and two people are in custody after a crash at a gas station in Omaha late Thursday.
Just after 11:50 p.m. Thursday, the Omaha Police Department was called to the Casey’s gas station near 42nd Avenue and Grover Street.
OPD officers on the scene tell First Alert 6 they believe the incident began after two people stole a car. The car was tracked to the area.
Police used stop sticks on the car prior to the crash. They say the two suspects involved are in custody.
Suspect in murder of Omaha deacon to appear in court Friday
A man arrested in connection with the murder of his adoptive father, a deacon at a church in Omaha, is due in court Friday.
Martin Zak, 36, was booked into Douglas County Corrections last month and charged with first-degree murder. He faces life in prison if convicted.

Prosecutors believe he stabbed 69-year-old John Zak to death at his home near 36th and Cass streets. John Zak was a deacon at Saint Peter Catholic Church.
Martin Zak also faces gun, theft and flight to avoid arrest charges. His preliminary hearing is set for 9 a.m. Friday.
Third suspect in sexual assault case transferred to Douglas County
A former brain surgeon facing sexual assault charges has been fast-tracked to face the courts in Omaha.
Travis Tierney, 56, is a former brain surgeon from Nebraska City. He was being held at the Sarpy County Jail on a $5 million bond for allegations of swapping nude photos with a teenage boy.

Last year, the Metro Area Fugitive Team tracked him down at the airport and arrested him. He was out on bond and wasn’t supposed to leave the county when investigators realized he was in Arizona.
The case is an update to a First Alert 6 investigation where two men received vastly different sentences for the same crime. In both cases, the victim is the same person: a 15-year-old boy.

Friday will mark the last day of the Nebraska Legislature.
State senators are set to vote on overriding several of Gov. Jim Pillen’s vetoes made Thursday.

Another bill was LB 929, which states managed care organizations would have the ability to cover the cost of co-pays and deductibles. Pillen said that bill invites overuse of the health system.
