“A continuous closure, 24 hours a day” for two weeks in the province-Paris direction: this is the plan announced by the Directorate of Roads of Île-de-France (Dirif) regarding the Nanterre-La Défense tunnel, during fire safety system modernization works scheduled from Monday, April 20th to Saturday, May 2nd, 2026. Here are the details of the closed sections.
Connecting Ramps Also Closed
The works require the closure of the current section of the A14, in the province-bound direction towards Paris, which includes a part of the tunnel, from the entrance of the A14 tunnel in Nanterre to the beginning of the La Défense tunnel, as stated by Dirif.
“Some connecting ramps from the inner and outer A86 will also be closed. However, the ramps from N192 and N1013 will remain open to traffic,” added the institution.
Diversions will be set up for users coming from A86 and A14 highway (province to Paris direction) wishing to reach the La Défense tunnel. They will be directed towards RD914 towards Paris, and then towards boulevards Patrick Devedjian and Pierre Gaudin (RD993), also towards Paris.
The works, costing 3.3 million euros, aim to replace sections of pipelines and add valve equipment “to ensure the performance and reliability of the tunnel’s fire safety system.” These works follow those already carried out in 2022.
