KRAFTON, Inc. will launch the beta of Ally Duo, a new Arcade mode for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS powered by PUBG Ally.
Ally Duo is a new Arcade mode in which participants form a two-player team with the AI character, Ella, and play on the Sanhok map. They can communicate with Ella by voice to collaborate in various in-game situations, including movement, item collection, and strategy. This mode allows them to team up with an AI companion, creating a unique and immersive cooperative gaming experience.

Ella is the companion developed from PUBG Ally, KRAFTON’s AI technology. PUBG Ally is a new type of co-playable character (CPC) designed to play alongside human players. Powered by a small on-device language model and based on NVIDIA ACE, it is designed to understand player voice commands and in-game situations to respond proactively.
PUBG Ally uses voice recognition (STT) and text-to-speech (TTS) technologies to interact with players in real time. Unlike traditional non-playable characters (NPCs) who react based on fixed conditions, PUBG Ally simultaneously processes player voice commands and changing game situations to generate appropriate actions and responses. For actions requiring split-second responses, such as moving and collecting items, PUBG Ally is designed to respond with minimal latency. For situations requiring contextual understanding, such as strategizing, PUBG Ally synthesizes game context and conversation thread to make decisions, providing a cooperative experience that feels more natural and responsive.

The beta will be available worldwide for two weeks from June 17 to July 1. Ally Duo supports voice interactions in Korean, Chinese, and English. KRAFTON plans to continue refining the technology based on varied player experiences and feedback collected during the beta period.
