Her name is Jansi (Séréna Giraud in real life) and she is making a name for herself in the Toulouse music scene. A former world champion figure skater, the young artist could have pursued a successful engineering career after obtaining her degree, but she chose to focus on music. According to her, it wasn’t really a choice, saying, “It was imposed on me.” Mixing French song, slam, rap, and electro influences, she has just released a new EP titled “43 millions.” Meet this talented young artist.

“I have not had a conventional path at all!” – Act: How did you become a singer, musician, and artist?

“I don’t have a conventional path! I come from a rather sporty family. My dad is an engineer, my parents are very structured. I did 20 years of high-level sport, figure skating, for 20 years. Then I went to INSA for sport studies in Angers. I was doing high-level sports and going to school, it took up all my time. I also played a little piano in my room because I always wanted to make music. During my studies, I met someone who made me realize that I could think of music as a professional future. They offered to accompany me and helped me get started. I graduated in 2022 and after that, I plunged headfirst into music, thinking I had things to do in it and that it was somewhat imposed on me. I couldn’t see myself doing anything else.”

From that moment on, did you start composing songs?

“Yes. I always wrote a little bit about my life, small slams, small texts for my loved ones. But from the moment I wanted to start, I had so much to say that I put everything on paper and then turned it into music. I also learned from A to Z how to compose because I had some knowledge of music theory, but I had no idea how to write a song. In two or three years, I learned to use music production software, to compose, to write. I wrote my first songs, and from these first songs, we made a first EP of six tracks.”

By portraying her journey from figure skating to music, the article highlights Jansi’s unique path and her dedication to her musical career. Her EP, “43 millions,” reflects the intense competition in the music industry, where she strives to carve out her own space. Jansi’s musical influences, like Bigflo & Oli, Grand Corps Malade, and Stromae, shape her distinct style. The article sheds light on the challenges and opportunities faced by emerging artists in the digital age, where building a presence on social media is crucial. Jansi’s stage name is revealed to be a personal touch, reflecting her Indian heritage and alter ego in the music world.
