It was created six years ago, during the MeToo movement and after revelations by the skater Sarah Abitbol. The Signal-Sport unit continues to receive more and more reports of harassment, insults, and violence in physical activity structures. In its latest report presented on Thursday, April 23 by the Minister of Sports, it recorded 872 incidents last year, representing a 64% increase.

The majority of victims in these reports are women (57%) and minors (67%). These proportions increase even more in cases of sexist and sexual violence. The perpetrators are almost all men (91%), mostly educators, whether professionals or volunteers.

The platform has gained visibility and can now record more reports, but it has also become more effective in handling them. For each of the 872 reports, there has been an administrative investigation. Approximately 400 removal measures have been issued, either by prefectures, federations, or the judiciary.

In addition, there has been an increase in pre-checks, called “integrity checks”. These have been standardized for about a year now. One and a half million educators, volunteers, referees applying for a position have undergone verifications, and nearly a thousand have been disqualified before coming into contact with participants.
