On Saturday, May 16, the departmental championship for minibad (U9) and young chickens (U11) took place at the Willy Etiève complex in Pradines.
Young players from various clubs in the department competed for titles in both categories, in singles (boys and girls) and doubles (boys and girls as well). Close to 40 matches were played in the afternoon, with a new scoring system of 2 sets to 15 points.
The Lot Badminton Committee, in partnership with the Pradines Badminton Club, organized the competition and thanked volunteers, coaches, parents, and players for their sportsmanship. Despite the stakes and suspense, the competition ran smoothly.
Pradines Badminton dominated the podiums, winning 5 out of 7 titles in the competition. Players from the club who are champions of Lot include Pablo Chatelin-Vavasseur in SH young chicken, Anaëlle Guirado in SD young chicken, Amelia Cuche in SD minibad, Tinaël Soupa and Amelia Cuche in double minibad, and Rose Bourmaud and Anaëlle Guirado in DD young chicken.
Vice champions include Pablo Chatelin-Vavasseur and Timéo Boumbaly in DH young chicken, Rose Bourmaud in SD young chickens, and Adèle Bourmaud in SD minibad. Third place went to Tinaël Soupa in SH minibad, Savannah Cuche in SD minibad, and Timéo Boumbaly in SH young chicken.
A special mention goes to Amelia and Anaëlle for achieving the double in both singles and doubles.
On May 30 and 31, adult competitors from the department will meet in Vigan to compete for the adult departmental title. Over a hundred players are expected at this competition, with over 200 matches scheduled. Registrations are still open.
