Lens vs TFC: The Toulouse FC fell to RC Lens
There was no contest. The Violets traveling to Bollaert on Tuesday, April 21, were quickly defeated by a highly charged Sang et Or team, driven by an equally enthusiastic crowd. Who failed? Who, on the contrary, was able to shine? The Midi Libre takes out the report card – here’s the analysis.
– Haug (4/10): At halftime, the score was heavy without blaming the Norwegian substitute for the goals. Thauvin scored a penalty (1-0, 9th) and Udol’s close-range shot (3-1, 35th) while Saint-Maximin’s shot was blocked on the goal line (2-0, 18th). Made a good save on a left-footed attempt by Édouard (27), then missed Thauvin’s free-kick leading to the final goal (4-1, 74th).
– Koumbassa (4): Had a hard time controlling Saint-Maximin overall: couldn’t stop him leading to the 2-0 goal and was dribbled past without consequences later. Substituted by KAMANZI in the 76th minute.
– Cresswell (4): Smiling off-field, but wasn’t as successful on the field, being outplayed by Abdulhamid leading to the 35th-minute goal.
– Nicolaisen (5): Showed a neutral performance as the captain of the Violets, possibly the least challenged defender.
– Sidibé (4.5): Struggled to contribute on the right flank and was beaten by Udol for Lens’ second goal. Replaced by RUSSELL-ROWE in the 64th minute.
– Casseres (4.5): Found it tough against Lens’ midfield, losing the ball under pressure and later couldn’t stop Thauvin for Lens’ fourth goal. Substituted by SAUER in the 86th minute.
– Diop (3.5): Remembered for a foul on Thauvin leading to a penalty, revised by VAR. Substituted by VOSSAH in the 64th minute.
– Methalie (3.5): Had little impact and switched positions early in the game.
– Dønnum (4.5): Almost scored early but managed an assist for Hidalgo’s goal.
– Emersonn (4.5): Provided a crucial assist for Hidalgo’s goal with a right-footed cross.
– Hidalgo (5): Scored the only chance he had and was subbed off for AZIZI in the 76th minute.
