Without shining, Real Madrid prevailed against Alavés (2-1) at the Santiago Bernabéu.

Real Madrid did the job, but without completely reassuring themselves. Facing a spirited and tenacious Alavés team, Alvaro Arbeloa’s men managed to make the difference thanks to their individual talents. From the start, despite Madrid’s possession, the defense remained shaky. It took until the half-hour mark for the game to turn. Following an action initiated by Gürler, Kylian Mbappé unleashed a long-range shot to open the scoring (30′). The Frenchman came very close to doubling the lead soon after (32′), while Vinicius caused nightmares for the opposing defense.

An intense end to the match

After halftime, Real Madrid quickly extended their lead. From 25 meters out, Vinicius Junior struck a precise shot into the bottom corner (50′), rewarding a strong performance after an inconsistent first half. The Madridistas seemed to be in control. But gradually, the match slipped away from the home team.

Alavés grew increasingly threatening: Lunin had to make a save in front of Martinez (77′), while Parada hit the post (83′). Under pressure, Real Madrid bent but did not break… until stoppage time. With one final chance, Toni Martinez reduced the deficit (90’+3), rewarding the Basque team’s efforts and making the Bernabéu tremble. Ultimately, the Madridistas held on to win (2-1), not without a few scares. With this victory, Real Madrid remains second in La Liga, putting pressure on FC Barcelona.
