KRAFTON has announced the 2026 roadmap for PUBG: Battlegrounds, marking its 9th anniversary with significant updates and the introduction of new content. The game recently surpassed 1.3 million simultaneous users, reaffirming its popularity. The roadmap focuses on evolving and innovating gameplay, as well as improving live service through various content.

Evolution of the gaming experience

KRAFTON aims to evolve PUBG gameplay by introducing new systems that deepen the tactical dimension. Map and world updates are planned, including the arrival of destructible terrain on Erangel next month. This feature will allow players to modify the battlefield, creating cover in open terrain. Miramar will feature Secret Rooms, adding exploration opportunities and rewards. Rondo improvements will optimize looting and itinerary planning.

New tactical systems and features will be implemented. Interactive smoke will react to environmental factors such as wind and explosions, adding a new tactical dimension. Supplies via Blue Chip Towers and equipment system enhancements will enrich strategic decision-making. A meta rotation system will see dominant weapon classes change from season to season to maintain combat freshness. Major updates will be offered every four months, with balancing fixes every two months. New weapons and accessories will be added, while unused elements will be removed. The Class mode will be enhanced with a more intuitive Ranking Points system. Season structures and their rewards will also be updated, and the Contender system will be expanded. Passes related to game modes and esports will be developed.

New modes and community content

KRAFTON is transforming PUBG into a broader platform with new modes and content driven by the community. In April, Xeno Point, a roguelite co-op looter-shooter, will be launched. It will combine progression systems and strategic gameplay. The company is also preparing the reveal of PAYDAY, a co-op heist mode developed in collaboration with Starbreeze, focusing on stealth, planning, and teamwork.

User-generated content (UGC) will enter a large-scale expansion phase. Creation tools and devices will be improved to support a greater variety of player-created modes. Performance optimizations will enhance the development environment. A dedicated UGC hub will be introduced to facilitate the discovery of community content. KRAFTON is stepping up its efforts to provide a more stable and secure service environment. The server infrastructure will be expanded to improve overall performance, especially on consoles. Anti-cheating systems will be strengthened through better detection accuracy and improved enforcement strategies. Fighting DMA-based cheating will remain a priority.
