Two days after Coline Berry’s testimony before the commission of inquiry into the treatment of incestuous sexual violence, during which she accused her father, Richard Berry, of repeated rapes, the actor’s wife and sister have come to his defense on social media. They accuse Coline Berry of “lies.”
“Stop!” Two days after Coline Berry’s testimony before the commission of inquiry into incestuous sexual violence, two close associates of Richard Berry posted messages of support for the actor on Instagram. During her statement before the commission, Coline Berry accused her father of rapes “almost every weekend” during her childhood.
Pascal Louange, Richard Berry’s wife, was the first to publish a lengthy text on Instagram on Friday, May 1. “The limit has clearly been exceeded,” wrote the 54-year-old actress, noting that this limit is her daughter, whom Coline Berry mentioned during her testimony.
Pascale Louange accuses Coline Berry of “maintaining a victim imposture based solely on [her] own lies – lies [she has] come to believe.” The actress then addresses her husband, Richard Berry, praising his “courage to remain silent.” Coline, on the other hand, is described as “capable of lying about everything and nothing, and worse, of convincing herself of her own lies and therefore being persuasive.”
“Coco the Liar”
An hour later, Marie Berry, the sister of the 75-year-old actor, also posted a text on Instagram. She directly addresses her niece, whom she accuses of repeated lies since childhood – “you were affectionately nicknamed ‘Coco the Liar’.” Marie Berry accuses her niece of developing an “exacerbated jealousy” towards her father’s partners and the children he had with them (the actor has three daughters from different marriages, with Coline being the eldest).
By accusing her father, Marie Berry believes her niece has “crossed an unacceptable line.” In addition to refuting Coline Berry’s accusations, the actor’s sister assures that he is a “deeply involved, attentive, and protective father – a real ‘daddy long legs’.” She also denies the idea that the kidney donation Richard Berry made to her in 2005 “was intended to silence her”: “how awful,” she exclaims.
“Another need to victimize yourself”
In her text, Coline Berry’s aunt questions her niece’s claims about a multiple sclerosis diagnosis and an alleged rape by a horseback riding teacher when she was 14. “I am surprised today that you still protect your real rapist. No name, no address, no complaints? No riding teacher maybe?” she asks before stating, “another need to victimize yourself.”
The complaint filed in 2021 by Coline Berry against her father and Jeane Manson – Richard Berry’s partner during the alleged period – was dismissed in 2022 by the Paris prosecutor’s office for being past the statute of limitations.
