Version 4.4 of PUBG Mobiletitled Hero’s Crown, will launch on May 12 on iOS and Android. This update is one of the most ambitious thematic overhauls the game has seen in years. It immerses Erangel in Greek and Roman mythology with new map areas, a PvE boss, new abilities, new weapons and a Blue Lock crossover anime arriving in the following weeks.
Familiar sights of Erangel have been redesigned for the Crown of Heroes theme. Yasnaya Polyana, the Ruins, Ferry Pier and Mylta have all been given Greek architecture: marble columns, temples of the Olympian gods, gladiator barracks and war banners replace the usual Eastern European aesthetic of the map. The changes are not purely visual. The timing and lines of sight of hot drops change along with the new structures, which rearranges squad rotation and positioning in the opening minutes of a match.
Nimbus Island and the divine trials
The biggest addition is Nimbus Island Nimbus Island is a new floating hotspot called Crown’s Abode. The island offers premium loot, additional revival opportunities, and two new active abilities: Heart of Fury, which provides a boost in combat, and Spartan Flag, which expands the team’s buff zone. Squads have three minutes to defeat it in exchange for rare loot and unique rewards.
The Divine Trials system is the main mode of progression in the update. Four named trials, linked to mythology, Achilles, Spartan, Icarus and Griffin, are scattered across the map. By completing them, you earn Medals of Glory, which accumulate over the course of matches and unlock the update’s exclusive seasonal rewards. A new vehicle, the Chariot, also appears: it is a chariot powered by a fire horse, whose maximum speed is 85 km/h and which can briefly fly away when fully propelled.
Weapons, collaborations and news
The M1 Garand https://www.pubgmobile.com/en-US/home.shtml appears as a new sniper rifle. Weapon balance changes significantly alter the meta: sniper rifles get a significant buff with damage reduction over distance disabled, making long-range engagements as effective as close-range ones. Assault rifles recoil, dealing less damage at range, and shotguns have their armor damage and range adjusted. The Gilt set, an upgradeable Spartan conqueror-themed outfit with matching weapon skins, is the premium cosmetic centerpiece of 4.4.
The full update schedule for May is packed. Leaderboard Season 30 begins on May 13. A Ford Motor Cruise collaboration event begins the same day. A Harley-Davidson collaboration will go live on May 15. The Blue Lock anime crossover begins on May 22, bringing character skins based on Yoichi Isagi, Seishiro Nagi, Meguru Bachira, and Rin Itoshi through a 500 UC Prize Path progression system. Early Access Blue Lock Rewards are available starting May 14 for players who log in before the main event.
