The challenge of the offense, what is it? The challenge of the offense, more commonly known as the Trophy of the sports of the Rep, aims to reward, in the main collective sports of Béarn and Soule, the most prolific amateur teams in attack.

And it is not necessarily the teams best placed in their championship that win, because, let’s remember, a good offense without a good defense is like a meal without a main course. We enjoy it for a moment but remain unsatisfied. But as Pyrénées Presse, we are also fans of good desserts, we offer the opportunity to the most offensive teams – regardless of their ranking – to savor a good cake and a brief moment of glory, during the Trophy awards.

Prize giving The winners of the offensive challenge are invited to a grand prize-giving ceremony, in a prestigious place of Béarn sports: the Hameau stadium last year. During this ceremony of the Pyrénées Sports Trophies, our newspaper also honors professional athletes and high-level athletes who have performed during the past season.

Every year the Sports Trophies are organized thanks to the support of partners: in 2025 the historical partner Nelson Paillou County Centre, the EP Sport equipment supplier (Lescar) and the City of Pau.

Some clarifications on the rankings Two months before the big day, here are the rankings of the offensive challenge, kept up to date by our scrutineers, keen followers of our amateur teams: Claude Jouanserre (basketball and rugby), Patrick Peyre (handball), Lucas Baillon (football), and Philippe Graeff (volleyball).

You will notice that some disciplines have separate rankings for girls and boys: these are sports where the licensed players are as numerous as the licensed players. Except for volleyball, because in Béarn there are not enough clubs to have two distinct consistent rankings. You may have also noticed that in rugby, all divisions are taken into account, from Promotion R3 to National 2, while in football only regional level teams are counted because there would be too many teams to consider if we went down to the departmental level.

Important rule: only the results of the first teams are taken into account.
