Russian drones and missiles have killed at least 5 people and injured 46 in the Ukrainian city of Dnipro, authorities said on Saturday. The bodies of four people were found in the ruins of a destroyed house during the night attacks, according to Oleksandr Hanzha, the governor of Dnipropetrovsk oblast.

“Russians hit Dnipro and other cities and towns practically all night,” Mr. Hanzha wrote on Telegram about the attacks, which caused fires throughout the city and partially destroyed several residential buildings, businesses, and a private home.

Another person was killed on Saturday afternoon in another Russian attack on Dnipro, Mr. Hanzha said, in the same residential area hit by the night strikes. He stated that a total of 46 people were injured. In southwestern Ukraine, two people were injured during drone attacks overnight in the Odessa region. Residential buildings, port infrastructure, and cars were damaged in the southern part of the region, Governor Oleh Kiper said on Saturday.

In Russia, a woman was killed and a man seriously injured by a Ukrainian drone strike in the border region of Belgorod, local officials said. Following the nighttime attacks, the Romanian Ministry of Defense stated on Saturday that drone fragments were found in a residential area of Galaţi, in the southeastern part of the country near the NATO member’s border with Ukraine. No casualties were reported.

Romania has repeatedly confirmed the presence of drone fragments on its territory. These nighttime attacks followed a prisoner exchange on Friday, during which 193 soldiers returned to their respective countries.

These periodic prisoner exchanges have been one of the few positive results of otherwise unsuccessful negotiations for months between Moscow and Kyiv under US auspices. The talks have yielded no progress on key issues hindering the end of the Russian invasion of its neighbor, now in its fifth year.

During a meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on Saturday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that Ukraine was willing to continue peace talks with Russia in Azerbaijan.

“We have already held such discussions – in Turkey and with our American partners in Switzerland,” he emphasized. “We are also ready for the next negotiations in Azerbaijan, if Russia is ready for diplomacy.”
